What you need to know before your pilgrimage on Slovakia:

- you need the reservation of accomodation (it´s the same like a tourist)

- the shops in the vilages are usually open during mornig (from 6,00 - 12,00)

- the pilgrim routes don´t have "a signs", you need a turistic map!!!

- for SOS you call: 112

The south-west of Slovakia  is an industrial center...no mountains, no wild nature:) but if you want, you can find and visit some "quiet" places, very nice churches, the basilics and also national Basilica minor of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary in Šaštín.

- is the oldest royal town in Slovakia.
- has a nickname "Slovak Rome".

- especially in the past was an important commercial, religious and educational center.
- at the moment it is a pleasant place for a simply ordinary life cca 80 000 people.
- is an important pilgrimage site and also the archbishop lives here.
- is a city of young people, students ...
- is our city, we are living here and we invite you to visit our pilgrim´s region.

1./ Trnava - Trnava Modranka

only 5 km long a pilgrim route...

2./ Trnava - Trstín

- a very nice route and pilgims place, a very peaceful place near by small mountains - Karpaty, near by vilage Smolenice (the castle). Trstín is a vilage with a very good bread :) - the small shop with a fresh bread is open 24 hours.

By the way you can visit a vilage Dolná Krupá - the Manor-house of Chotek family is here. Ludwig van Beethoven
was a guest in this house :) ... the vilage of roses

You must be careful  on the start (cca 3 km by the road n.504) and on the end (cca 1 km by the road n.51) of pilgrimage - a big traffic is on the route in these parts...

3./ Trnava - Sereď Stredný Čepeň

- the simply and no complicated route, without a big traffic

- the accomodation is here: hotel Hutník, or private accomodations...

- if you want to come back in Trnava, you can use train or bus (cca 15 min.)

4./ Trnava - Hlohovec

- a nice and peaceful route, no complicated with a good services...

- you have a possibility stay in Hlohovec, or return back to Trnava by bus or train.

5./ Trnava - Leopoldov - Piešťany - Ducové

- we were walking from Leopoldov, from Trnava to Leopoldov we used a train, but it´s possibility to combinate 2 ways: 1./Trnava - Hlohovec + 2./Leopoldov - Ducové

- it´s a simply, good route, no a big traffic

- Ducové is a historical place (from 9.-10. century)

6./ Trnava - Modra - Svätý Jur - Marianka

- it´s a "weekend way" - you need 3 days

- through the region of wine

- a lot of accomodations in small pensions... in Marianka is a possibility to sleep in the pilgim house

- Marianka is very near by Bratislava, it´s a very nice, calm place in small mountains - Karpaty

7./ Trnava - Senec- Dunajská Lužná - Báč

- the beautiful "weekend" route with a romance churches, near by Danube, Gabčíkovo

- near by Bratislava

- the accomodation: in Báč is only one pension, a big hotel is a few kilometers before - in Čilistov (hotel Kormorán)

8./ Trnava - Trstín - Lakšárska Nová Ves - Šaštín

- Šaštín is a very important pilgrim place, the national pilgrim place

- the pilgrim route is a very nice: the castel and the park in Dolná Krupá, a peaceful pilgrim place in Trstín, a lovely mountains Malé Karpaty, a special region Záhorie...

- Šaštín is near to Bratislava...for a transport to Bratislava you can use a train (through the station Kúty)

- if you want to stay in Šaštín, you can to find an accomodation in a small pension, motel or hotel.

9./ Proposal "coupled route" Trnava and Nitra Diocese

- the pilgrim route between towns: Trnava, Nitra, Trenčín, 2 diocese...

1. the south route for 2-3 days, 64 km: Trnava, Trnava - Modranka, Sereď - Stredný Čepeň, Vinohrady nad Váhom, Lehota, Nitra
